In all my years of being in a relationship on Valentine’s Day I can’t think of a better Valentine then the one I had today.
My boyfriend and I decided about three days ago that we wouldn’t get each other anything for Valentines day since 1. we’re broke college kids and 2. leave far away from each other and wouldn’t be together for the useless gift giving holiday. Yet, I still wanted to surprise him with a little something; so, I made him a home made gift which consisted of a box wrapped in red paper, filled with hershey kisses, and about 15 little notes/drawings with things I love about him. The lid of the box said that since we were so far apart from each other when ever he felt lonely or down he could just open the box, eat a kiss and read a little pick me up. When I visited him this past weekend I left it with one of his friends so they could give it to him on Valentine’s day.
Today, Valentine’s day, when I got out of my Chemistry Lab I received a text from my boyfriends mother saying that I had a surprise package waiting for me at my house. I came home to find three lovely roses and a card from my boyfriend in the doorway.
Later on today when I talked to my boyfriend he had informed me that he had already opened up all the little notes and ate half the kisses. Apparently he isn’t very good at following rules, but I guess that’s a good thing sometimes.. because if he did I wouldn’t have my lovely flowers or my lovely valentine.
